THE CROFTING COMMISSION (2)

It simply had to happen.  We are talking about the resignation of Ms Susan Walker as Chairman of the Crofting Commission.

Ms Walker was appointed Chairman by an Edinburgh public schoolboy, Paul Wheelhouse,  then Scottish Nationalist Minister with responsibility for Crofting,  in 2012.  What Paul Wheelhouse knew about Crofting wouldn't even take up the space on a postage stamp but,  nevertheless,  Ms Walker  was  parachuted into office.

If press reports are correct,  Ms Walker thought she was grander and much more powerful than her fellow  commissioners and obviously thought that political patronage would protect her backside during her tenure. The nationalist administration,  sensing another episode of Clearances ferocity,  quickly and spectacularly hung Ms Walker out to dry.

We  congratulate the commissioners who forced the issue.  We castigate the nationalist politicians who want placemen to do their bidding.
