One of the most remarkable episodes in the General Election just past was the extraordinary meddling of Rupert Murdoch, the high heid yin of The Sun newspaper empire. This episode seems to have been forgotten the day after it appeared but, to us, it rankles as the most shameful part of the election, by far.
We are talking about The Sun's front page that appeared just days prior to voting day when Rupert gave his backing and blessing to Nicola here in Scotland and to David Cameron in England. Rupert was carefully hedging his bets and giving his backing to the polar opposites in British politics today.
We never heard one solitary complaint from Nicola so that the assumption must be that she approved of Murdoch's blessing for Cameron also. How could it be otherwise?
What about that for bare-faced hypocrisy?
