This is our second blog about the Lewis SNP Press Officer, Dr David Wilson, but, we suspect, there are more to follow.
First things first. We haven't the foggiest idea what Dr Wilson's doctorate is in but, like a good Angus Brendan boy, it will almost certainly be in something that involves a lot of fantasy and little fact. Certainly, his ramblings in local papers over the years indicate fantasy as his favourite subject. The only other thing we know about him is that we recall him some years ago describe himself as a 'consultant to the international oil industry'. Phew, man overboard!!!
Why Melinda at the Gazette and Ian at the West Highland Free Press give Dr Wilson all the space he wants suggests, at the very least, poor judgement on their respective parts. The other possibility, we suspect, is that, while Melinda is nationalist native anyway, Ian is, increasingly, heading that way, at least if his newspaper is anything to go by.
In any event, in today's WHFP, Dr Wilson is given the usual puff in which he describes Angus Brendan as 'a first-class constituency MP'!!! The 'doctor' then goes on trying to explain events dating back to 1974!!!
Dr Wilson would do well to remember that Angus Brendan was elected by just 39% of the electorate. Melinda and Ian should remember that what goes round, comes round, and nationalist politics are no exception.
