MSP OFFICE EXPENSES

You just cannot keep good men (and women) down,  can you?  Not even when the electorate has bestowed on them the privilege of representing that same electorate  at the Scottish Parliament.

We are referring to this week's breaking political story of some of Holyrood's finest claiming office rent through the public purse and handing the sums involved over to their respective political associations.

Some Nationalist,  Tory and Labour members are  at it,  including our own MSP,  Alasdair Allan, who recently claimed  £2,701 in office space rented from the SNP Western Isles Constituency Association.  Another is former Labour Scotland leader,  Iain Gray,  who claimed office rent of £8,195 and handed over to East Lothian Constituency Labour Party.

Among the culprits also are  Roseanna (Republican Rose) Cunningham,  Richard Lochhead,  Wembley Ken MacAskill,  Shona Robison,  John Sweeney and one Alexander Salmond,  all ministers in The Scottish Government.  Republican Rose claimed a whacking £6,695 and,  not to be outdone,  Wembley Ken claimed an extra fiver at £6,700.  Such claims may be within the law but that doesn't make the practice any more honourable,  does it?

To think that The First Minister of The Scottish Government puts his grubby mitts anywhere near such a grubby deal tell us everything that we didn't want to know about The First Minister.
