We continue our interest in David MacBrayne Ltd (DML), the holding company of CalMac Ferries Ltd (CFL). It is all too clear that there are major moves afoot.
According to company blurb, the last Board Meeting of DML was held at Gourock on 29 September 2021. In the Minutes of that meeting, it was announced that the next Board Meeting would be on 03 November 2021, again at Gourock. That is more than three months ago and there has been a deadly silence since.
Why, we have to ask? How much time does DML need to write up the script about a Board Meeting? Was it, perchance, the ominous whispers that 'Erik the Dane' Ostergaard was to be appointed as Director and Chairman following his disastrous role as Director and Chairman of the notorious CMAL, Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd? Whatever the reason, we have not been told.
The only other matter of note has been the appointment of one Sharon Marie O'Connor as Director of both DML and CFL on 14 February. Sharon, like most other DML and CFL Directors, is another quangoteer par excellence. She has no fewer than 16 registrable appointments under the Companies Acts!
Hop aboard, Sharon! You're in excellent company as this rotten Nationalist government has decreed that only those whom they regard as patsies are allowed to get anywhere near a MacBrayne's directorship! Just ask Ostergaard!
The reverse side is that it will be forever a blot on your CV.
