We still don't know what it was but, ever since her election as an MP, we have found it unusually difficult to find much in favour of Ms Cherry, an MP for one of the Edinburgh constituencies. While Joanna may, of course, be the finest person ever on the planet we have yet to see those finer qualities. Then again, it could be, like so often, us.
This week, Joanna hit the headlines again with allegations emanating from her staff or, more correctly, her former staff. We are not at the moment aware of what those allegations exactly are other than what a newspaper report describes, rightly or wrongly, as 'a staff mutiny'. Also, we noticed that Joanna's difficulties were the lead story on the BBC Scotland news tonight.
Whatever, Joanna is on the warpath and has issued a statement :-
'In my professional conduct both as an advocate and a politician I have always tried to be fair and reasonable and I am well known for my personal integrity. Should anyone say anything to the contrary I will take the necessary steps to protect my reputation'.
To laymen like us this appears to mean that our dear Joanna has an ultra-high regard of herself and that anyone who challenges this high self-esteem will be sued through the courts. We would dearly like to see the outcome of any such challenge but, for the moment, we shall just have to content ourselves with keeping a close eye on a lady who is, very obviously, head-over-heels in love with herself. It sort of reminds us of our own home-grown Nat, Angus Brendan MacNeil MP - perhaps it's a nationalist thing?
Gaun yersel, Joanna! We like nothing better than seeing the self-important become figures of ridicule.
