To be frank, we had completely forgotten that such a persona as Alasdair Allan existed until we read in the papers a few days ago that Nicola had sacked him as a government minister. He was Minister for International Development and Europe in the Scottish Government, whatever that means. Apparently, Alasdair is also MSP for the Western Isles.
Alasdair, who was once memorably described by The Rt Honourable Brian Wilson CBE as 'an automaton', is as grey as they come but which is not, necessarily, a bad thing. At least he's not Angus Brendan MacNeil and that's a blessing in itself.
