We cannot say that we are disappointed that the First Minister has gone and we hope that, unlike Lazarus, he will not rise again. He was, easily, the most divisive man we have ever seen in politics and that includes Margaret Thatcher.
Despite the ghastly platitudes from his political enemies who, just a few days ago, were calling him an untrustworthy liar, his legacy to Scottish and British politics will be one of division and bitterness.
Good riddance.
