Just on the heels of the residents of Carloway Estate Ltd voting in favour of a buyout, we see the latest, and rather unsavoury, headlines caused by the North Harris Trust - a body identical to what is being proposed for the Carloway area.
The circumstances - at least the little we know at the moment - are that in August 2013 the Co-operative organisation made a telephone call to the North Harris Trust saying they were considering opening a store in Tarbert but asking the Trust 'to keep the matter confidential at the moment' which, instead of letting the people of North Harris know, is exactly what the Trust did. Now, it is all out in the open.
Our old friend, John Murdo Morrison, described the Trust action as 'sinful' and which is as an appropriate a word as any to describe the situation. It certainly doesn't augur well and trust in the Trust, if you pardon the pun, will take years to recover, if at all.
But surely we in Carloway don't have anyone who would hide anything from us ........ or do we ????!!!!
