THE WISDOM OF ANGUS BRENDAN MACNEIL MP (7)

We don't often read Hansard,  the parliamentary journal at Westminster,  for a number of reasons.  Firstly,  we are usually too busy on the croft.  Secondly,  it all seems rather removed now that we have 129 oddbods and halfwits here at Holyrood that are amusing enough for a laugh or three.  Thirdly,  we wish to avoid the excruciating cringeworthiness of Angus Brendan.  That last reason means that we cannot at the moment make our minds up about whether or not Brian Wilson has done us a favour writing about Angus Brendan in today's West Highland Free Press.

What prompted Angus Brendan's wrath in the Commons on 24 October in a debate about aviation strategy in the south east of England?  We shall probably never know but the boy exploded in typical and true Angus Brendan style.  He told Parliament many things during the debate and not least  that he flies 'more than any other MP'.  He also ladled into the Comhairle's leader,  Angus Campbell, in a grossly defamatory way.  We could go on and on but let's just say that nothing  Angus Brendan said related in any way to  the subject matter of the debate.

But why is Brian - by far the finest journalist about - surprised by any of this?  We ourselves have long accepted that Angus Brendan is simply deranged.  Brian should do the same - and start off from there as a given.
