DR ALASDAIR ALLAN MSP (2)

Today,  we have to refer to the Stornoway Gazette following some comments apparently given them by Dr Alasdair Allan,  the local MSP.  In amongst other comments on the Nationalist bill promoting same-sex marriage,  Dr Allan states that "I will study the bill but I think I am unlikely to support it in the chamber.  I have to reflect the views of people in the constituency".

Well,  we have news for Dr Allan.  He does not,  remotely, "have"  to reflect the views of people in the constituency any more than we,  ourselves,  "have" to vote one way or another,  or any more than he would "have" to jump into Stornoway harbour just because someone told him to jump.  Dr Allan is totally free to vote in Holyrood any way he likes and on every subject under the sun.  Incidentally,  we wonder what spurious subject afforded him his doctorate?

It is utterly spineless drivel which,  translated,  means "if I don't vote against this bill I am terrified I will lose my job".  If this is the standard of representation the constituency votes for,  then we have coming to us everything we deserve.
