David Laws MP, former Chief Secretary to the Treasury in the Coalition Government until he resigned after only seventeen days in the post following allegations of serious irregularities in his parliamentary expenses, is back in the news today. His LibDem colleagues hope he will be back in government in an autumn reshuffle.
That the possibility is even mentioned is scandalous in itself. First of all, since he did not have the decency at the time to resign and offer himself for re-election, the electorate in Yeovil should decide at a General Election whether he is still fit to represent them, long before he is even considered for a government post again.
And this in the party of Gladstone.
And this in the party of Gladstone.
