DAVID MACBRAYNE LTD (2)

David MacBrayne Ltd,  the holding company of CalMac Ferries Ltd (CFL),   has a new Director.  He is one Erik Jorgen Ostergaard,  formerly Non-Executive Chairman of the dreaded Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL).  Erik's appointment with CMAL - the firm that procures CalMac's ferries -  terminated on 31 December 2021 and,  it would appear,  for rather sinister reasons.  After all,  Erik had been with CMAL since inception in 2006.

Those sinister reasons are  the almost-certain suspicions that  the Scottish Ministers are going to join CMAL and CFL into the one unit again and,  for that,  they are going to need someone to do their bidding and carry out their orders and do their dirty work without question.  Erik's their man.

David MacBrayne's website makes no mention of the appointment so far  despite the appointment having been made on 03 January this year.  No wonder.  They will be equally as apprehensive as we are given Erik's grim record at CMAL.  The problem with CMAL is that they haven't the foggiest idea of what to look for in ferry design - just look at the Glen Sannox and the infamous Hull 802.  In fact,  they haven't the foggiest idea,  period.   Erik must take all of the blame for all that.  He had been a Director (and, latterly,  Chairman) of  CMAL since it was first incorporated.

There's something brewing,  of that there is no doubt.  Erik is not here without reason.  The Scottish Ministers are up to something concerning West Coast ferries and,  when they are involved,  it inevitably ends up worse than anyone could ever contemplate.

Look out!
