We doubt very much if there is anyone in the Western Isles of Scotland who hasn't heard of the infamous Hull 802, the as-yet unbuilt, undelivered and unnamed CalMac ferry rusting at the Ferguson Marine yard at Port Glasgow where they've got only as far as part-hull. Hull 802 was planned for the Uig Triangle, that is if she ever came to being built at all.
Writing in The Herald today a man called Martin Williams, allegedly a Staff Reporter, has gone one further and renamed the hulk Hull 902. We've had problems with this man Williams's accuracy before and to the extent we cannot rely on a solitary word that he writes as being accurate. That, of course, is what The Herald newspaper is about nowadays.
Perhaps next week Williams will go better still and rechristen the rusting hulk Hull 1066 And All That?
