THE ALEX SALMOND INVESTIGATION (2)

Nicola's problem with either her veracity or her recall - or possibly both - is getting ever more comprehensive and convoluted.

Yesterday,  at a Scottish Government inquiry into circumstances concerning former First Minister Alexander Salmond,  the Permanent Secretary at the Scottish administration,  Leslie Evans,  told the committee that she personally warned the current FM,  Nicola Sturgeon,  of incidents allegedly involving Mr Salmond as long ago as November 2017.  The problem for Nicola is that some time ago she told the Scottish Parliament that she became aware of such alleged incidents only in April 2018.  One thing is sure,  they cannot both be right.

This inquiry - or,  perhaps,  a so-called inquiry at this stage - has already been refused certain documents by Nicola and her cronies in government because of what Nicola claims is legal privilege. Those documents appear to be quite important documents for the inquiry so  that that may explain their non-disclosure so far.

Also,  some members of the committee are very unhappy with the chairman of the committee,  Linda Fabiani,  Nationalist MSP,  who has refused a certain line of questioning.  Why,  only she can say,  but our doubts remain that this investigation will ever establish anything of consequence given that (a) important documents have been refused and (b) pertinent questions have been disallowed.  In other words,  the standard cover-up so far.  There's also the added problem that Ms Fabiani is not only a party stooge but also far from being the sharpest tool in the box.  Let's hope the other committee members show more determination.

We're watching - and with quite a lot of interest we may add.
