THE HERALD : IAIN MACWHIRTER (12)

Fate,  as it happens.

Here were we thinking only yesterday that the dopey Magnus had excelled as  editor as recently as Tuesday when he included a page from Monday's Herald in the Tuesday edition!  That is a completely new one in newspaper history.  We didn't think it could get any worse.

As usual,  we were wrong.  Forward just one day and,  today,  Magnus has to apologise yet again,  this time for his 'star'  columnist's,   Iain Macwhirter,  telling the nation yesterday that Balmoral Estate,  a private dwelling of the monarch and her family,   formed part of the Crown Estate!

What on earth did Macwhirter learn at school?  We thought that every schoolboy was taught that Queen Victoria's husband,  Prince Albert (of Saxe Coburg Gotha fame),  was the first 'royal' to head for a Highland getaway using his own money instead of ours.

Lowlanders such as Macwhirter have a lot to learn.  Obviously,  he is not half as bright as he thinks he is.
