Another week ....... and yet another puff in the West Highland Free Press for Lady Claire's Kinloch Lodge Hotel. This time the puff is about the fact that Kinloch Lodge "has retained its Michelin Star for a fifth year".
Those of us who are much more familiar with a basket of salted herring than a "Michelin Star" simply cannot understand the WHFP's obsession with the place. Even when Isabella, Lady Claire's delightful daughter, points out that "our guests' desire for, and interest in, good food gets greater every year and for foodies the Michelin Star system is probably the most respected accolade" we still don't get it.
But what, just what, is the WHFP's obsession with the place? It certainly wasn't like this in the days of Old Brian as editor.
