There were 72,186 SNP members registered to vote. After Mrs Regan was eliminated, a total of 49,922 votes was cast, 26,032 for Humza Useless and 23,890 for Mrs Forbes, making the split roughly 52% to 48%. Only 48% of the membership voted for Humza Useless in the first round - and he's deeply unpopular countrywide after his disastrous tenures at Transport, Justice and Health respectively. Even his fellow challenger, Mrs Forbes, said so!
The most interesting figure by far was the number of SNP members who failed or refused to vote. Remove the figure of 49,992 from 72,186 and that leaves 22,264 SNP members who didn't vote for any of the three candidates. As a percentage of the total who were entitled to vote, that leaves approximately 31%, almost a third of the SNP membership.
It doesn't augur well. In our view, it's going to be downhill all the way.
We wonder how long Mr Useless will last?
