Well, that's it, Tim Hair no more. He's leaving Clyde shipbuilder Ferguson Marine in February 2022.
Tim is the 'Turnaround Director' of the troubled shipbuilder who was appointed by Nicola Sturgeon on 19 September 2019 to revive the nationalised yard's disastrous fortunes. He was paid £800,000 per annum by the Scottish Government to run the yard for two days per week from where he lives in Gloucestershire. We have never been told what Tim's qualifications for the job of building ferries actually were other than he's a Marine Engineer to trade but it's too late for recriminations now.
Meanwhile, while Tim is off with his ill-gotten gains, the ferry Glen Sannox remains unfinished while the infamous Hull 802 remains only on paper. Both are vital for CalMac's Hebridean and Clyde routes.
Nice work, Tim. We'll miss you. You livened up our time.
