MARGARET FERRIER MP

Frankly,  up till yesterday,  we had never heard of Margaret Ferrier,  the Scottish Nationalist MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West so that we have no grudge to bear.  But still.

Today,  there is an almighty clamour for Ms Ferrier's resignation as an MP for (a) travelling to London by train when she was undergoing tests for Covid (b) attending the House of Commons while under that same investigation and (c) taking the train back to Glasgow after she had tested positive for Covid.

Terribly stupid things to do,  we agree,  but not in itself a resignation issue in our eyes.  That should be a matter for her constituents next time round and not for the control freak that is First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to denounce ad nauseam as she has been doing for the past 48 hours and demanding Ms Ferrier's immediate resignation as an MP.

We would prefer for Ms Ferrier to continue as an MP if only to be reminded constantly of the abysmal calibre of your average SNP politician - and that includes the leaders of the SNP at both Holyrood and Westminster. As for Ms Ferrier's  hypocrisy in telling Dominic Cummings to resign over his infamous trip to County Durham earlier in Covid,  we care not either as hypocrisy is what politicians - all politicians - do best anyway.
