KATE FORBES MSP (1)

Kate Forbes is,  from memory,  an MSP for somewhere in the Highlands of Scotland.  She is also the 'Cabinet Secretary for Finance' in the nationalist Scottish Government.  Up till now we had been prepared to give Ms Forbes the benefit of the doubt in that we thought she might,  just might,   be different, but,  after her comments a day or two ago,  she is,  quite obviously,  just as deranged as those others in the Scottish Government and is,  we're afraid to say,  just another in the pack.

Kate was appointed 'Cabinet Secretary for Finance' in the nationalist Scottish Government some months ago following the scandal caused by the previous Finance Secretary,  Derek Mackay, over inappropriate telephone communications with a teenage boy.  In contrast to Mackay - a dumpling of the first order -  Kate appeared smart,  presentable and educated (Oxbridge and all that) and,  in particular,  didn't appear to be an embarrassingly  tribal,  hardcore  nationalist like Sturgeon,  Sweeney, Yousaf,  Ewing   and Company.  Or so we thought at the time.

Earlier in the week,  the GERS figures were published.  GERS stands for Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland.  Those figures made woeful reading.  Scotland's financial deficit was £15.1billion in 2019-20,  some 8.6% of Scotland's GDP,  and up from £13.1billion the year before.  The UK-wide deficit was 2.5%.  The EU average deficit was just 0.6%.  The biggest deficit in Europe was Romania with a 4.3% deficit,  just half of Scotland's deficit,  but,  then,  Romania is slowly emerging from third-world status.  

So,  what was Ms Forbes's response?  'The figures reflect the current constitutional position,  not the policy choices this Government would make were it to have the normal powers of most countries.  The publication sets out the context for why the status quo and the present constitutional arrangements are unsustainable.  The need for independence is more acutely visible than ever before' Kate said.  Frankly, given the vast sums of money that come north from Westminster every year,  this is bullshit - and Kate is bright enough to know it's bullshit.  

It didn't take long for Nicola to mould  Kate into Nicola's  own corrupted way of thinking.  Nicola employs the Adolf Hitler school of politics - tell the people the same lies long enough and often enough and,  eventually,  they will believe you.
